Create Your Own Hand-Sewn Yarn Cozy! 🧵 Fun and memorable—after all, your yarn deserves a little hug! Ready to add a little handmade charm to your yarn stash? Join us for a fun and relaxed workshop where you’ll learn how to stitch up your very own hand-sewn yarn cozy—a soft, stylish wrap that keeps your yarn neat, tangle-free, and totally cute! In this beginner-friendly class, we’ll cover simple sewing techniques using stretchy fabric to create a cozy. We will start off with a mini cozy (for a mini skein|yarn cake) to make sure we get through and understand all the steps. After completing the mini cozy, students will select two more stretchy fabrics of their choice (one solid colored and one graphic) to work on during the remaining time of the workshop and at the retreat. The regular size cozies hold up to a worsted yarn cake. We will discuss customization with colors, buttons, pockets, patches, fabric paint, for a bit of flair—because your yarn deserves to travel in style! No sewing machine required—this is all about hand stitching and hands-on fun. Perfect for crafters, knitters, crocheters, or anyone looking for a low-stress creative escape. 🧵 Handout and Materials provided | ✂️ All skill levels welcome | 🎨 Supplies Needed: your tape measure (or ruler) scissors from your notions pouch. Mini Skein swap with Jeanne Reed

Description:

Minis must be at least 7 grams each. Please wind, ball, or skein them up (and if you have the info, please try and label them.) How it will work: Bring a mini skein, take a mini skein. So if you bring 1, you take 1. If you bring 5 mini skeins, you may take 5 mini skeins (3, 4, 20, etc.). To make things fair, as you bring up your mini skeins, we’ll have you write down your name and the number of skeins you are trading, and then once everyone has turned in their skeins, we’ll draw for each person’s turn to pick. Oh, and the TWIST? You only have 20 seconds to pick out your new skeins during your turn (for the sake of time)! IF you don’t make the 20 second time limit, you have to put ALL the minis you did choose back on the table, and your name goes back in the draw to try again later. For example, if you are picked first and you don’t hit your 20 seconds, you could end up middle or last, depending on when your name gets chosen again! Don’t worry; it’s all in fun, and no one has ever lost minis 😆 Any leftovers will be put on the winding table for first come first serve!
